About UAT-UK and our tests
Test Dates for 2027 entry are now live on the UAT-UK website.
UAT-UK offers three computer-based undergraduate admissions tests for a wide range of university courses: The Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA), the Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT) and the Test of Academic Reasoning for University Admission (TARA). These tests are delivered by Pearson and their network of professional test centres, worldwide.
Our tests are intended for use alongside other selection criteria, determined by each University to which you are applying. This might include your academic qualifications and/or your performance at an interview. You should refer to the admissions pages of the institution(s) to which you are applying for more information.
More information on the format of the ESAT, TARA and TMUA can be found on the UAT-UK website, as well as advice on test preparation.
UAT-UK tests are offered twice per year, in October and January. You are only permitted to sit each test once per admissions cycle. If you are applying to Cambridge or Oxford, you must register to sit your test(s) in October, with the exception of those applying a mature College with a January deadline at Cambridge or to a Foundation Programme at Oxford.
Returning candidates can book a test using their existing UAT-UK account.
For all new candidates, before sitting a UAT-UK test, you will need to complete a two-step registration:
UAT-UK and Pearson are committed to providing reasonable adjustments where possible. If you require access arrangements visit the UAT-UK website before registering, using the link on this page.
Bursaries may also be available for UK applicants in financial need. Information on eligibility and how to apply can be found on the UAT-UK website using the links on this page.
It is up to you to make sure you have booked and paid for a test sitting by the relevant deadline. We will not be able to accommodate late bookings.
After you schedule your test, Pearson will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test centre, and directions to the test centre.
If you have any general issues or concerns, you should contact Pearson. If you have an issue during your exam, you must raise this within 24 hours. Please be aware that we’re unable to offer support through our social media and other channels. Our customer support team is best placed to advise on and respond to any enquiries. We also report all concerns raised to UAT-UK to ensure all candidates are treated equally and fairly.
